There's currently no release date confirmed for the new Devil May Cry series, however. Shankar has also stated the new Devil May Cry will be part of his "bootleg universe," meaning the show and Castlevania could potentially crossover.

When approached as a curio, there's some fun to be had with Devil May Cry: The Animated Series. The show's storylines also feel somewhat aimless. While Devil May Cry 2 is considered the weakest of the bunch, prequel Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening is regarded as argubly the best. Devil May Cry's focus on slick, fast-moving action and tongue in cheek humor made it a hit with players, and a franchise was born.
